Oriental Carpets
Oriental Carpets are mainly known for their ethnic designs of producing countries. The designs and colours represent ethnic populations' habits, way of life, splendour, lifetime knowledge, and their ongoing tradition of centuries.
Each region of Handmade Carpets has their own technique of weaving carpets, raising its flock of sheep to produce the unique texture of wool, silk & cotton. These are the basic ingredients of carpets which bring out the natural quality of their region.
Carpet weaving has been going on since the age of Adam and during all these centuries every region has cultivated their own style of fine weaving producing some of the most valuable products. In time these products have come to become Antique products that are priceless.
The technique of making carpets originated mainly in Persia (Now known as Iran), where carpet weavers developed a unique kind of knotting with which is known as Gharodian Knott, which still is being used in the 21st Century and will continue as long as humans are there. Because of these unique knotts the carpets when finished bring out to be a unique product. Due to the design, mixture of colours and weaving pattern, each Oriental carpet remains to be as One of its own and it is rarely a duplicate in the same colour, design & weaving can be produced. This is the beauty of Oriental Carpets and in time, it becomes priceless as there is no other like that.
The other region that developed a different knottage in carpets is Macedonian (now known as Turkey) known as Turkish Knots. These knots are so intriguing and strong that it is just impossible to untangle them. This makes carpets hard-wearing and long-lasting.
It is just impossible to mention all types of knots used by different regions, but these are the two main knots that are used in almost all following countries, like India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Nepal, Romania, Albania, China and Russia.
But the basic designs are taken from these two countries and each country makes variations in design, colour & wool according to their nomadic ethnic properties.
